BOP Unveils Eldercare Solution at World Aging Festival 2024

Battery-powered, wireless personal alert button with built-in intercom empowers seniors to age in place safely in their homes

SINGAPORE, 7 MAY 2024 – BOP Pte Ltd, a homegrown leader in eldercare solutions, proudly introduces its innovative tech product, the BOP Button, at the World Ageing Festival 2024 on 8-9 May. This pioneering innovation empowers seniors to age safely and independently in their own homes, addressing the challenges posed by our rapidly ageing population.

The BOP Button represents a significant advancement in assistive technology for ageing in place. It consists of a wireless, wall-mounted personal alert device that can be conveniently installed anywhere in the home without messy wiring or drilling. Its splashproof, no-camera and battery-powered design is particularly suitable for areas like bathrooms and bedrooms, where falls are most common. Operating independently from home Wi-Fi networks, the device relies on the robust 4G network, ensuring both reliability and performance.

In times of distress, the BOP Button provides immediate assistance. Upon activation, seniors can record a brief voice message and speak with a trained professional from the 24/7 emergency response centre, who will then assess the situation and activate the appropriate emergency services if necessary.

Having successfully deployed an earlier version of the BOP button in over 10,000 HDB rental apartments as part of GovTech’s Wireless Alert Alarm System since 2019, BOP has demonstrated the efficacy of this solution. As Singapore’s ageing population continues to grow, ensuring the safety and well-being of seniors, particularly those living alone, becomes increasingly crucial. BOP is committed to expanding the reach of this proven solution to more homes across Singapore.

Mr Chen Jer Yaw, Executive Director, BOP Pte Ltd, said: “Having witnessed the life-saving benefits of the BOP Button in thousands of homes since 2019, we are excited to bring it to all consumers in Singapore. We look forward to participating in this fast-growing market with more BOP IoT innovations that enhance the paradigm of how we can age well as a society.”

Mr Greg Tan, CEO of SG Assist Pte Ltd, which operates the response centre for BOP, said: “At SG Assist, we understand the challenges caregivers face in ensuring the well-being of their elderly loved ones, especially when they’re living independently. BOP offers caregivers and seniors peace of mind, knowing help is just a push of a button away. We are proud to support BOP.”

Mr Lourdsamy Dass, a 66-year-old SUSS Genrontech Ambassador, commented: “I find this product very useful for seniors like me. I tried the product today and was very impressed by the call centre’s swift response. Fast emergency help can make a difference between life and death.”

The BOP Button is available for an introductory price of $99, with a monthly subscription fee of $20 per household (for up to three buttons) for access to the 24/7 response centre and mobile app. Orders can be conveniently placed through https://www.buddyofparents.com/.
